Tomorrow is the big day.
I am supposed to be asleep now.
I just want to tell you guys, thank you for being there for one another, for the past one year or so. Like Elysia said, LOOK HOW FAR WE'VE COME.
From Blue Ridge Saga bar dunno what I forgot also, to our Light of Dawn solo, our Overture No. 1 solo, everything (:
People may look down on us, but it is okay. As long as we're still together as one section, able to support one another and everything, we are fine.
I know you all will work super duper hard for SYF tomorrow.

Don't be nervous, okay?
I...myself am nervous but I know to tell others not to be scared, I myself must be... calm (:
So I will be!
We will work together, play together.

We will be having a christmas cum farewell (for mdm alya) cum escape outing party soon:)))

i've already booked a chalet at downtown east on the 17/18 dec.
my family will be using the chalet for one day and we (the BAND) can use it on the other day.
please ask your section members who are able to come and which day they are free.
(18 dec would be preferable)
elysia and i will then colate the total number of ppl who are able to make it and email u guys again the confirmed date.
please reply and get the numbers ASAP coz we will be catering too!

Hi guys I'm back. I am better than Yvonne. Instead of finding the METRONOME, i found CLARINET related stuff (-:
I rock so much harder than you Yvonne!

The Clarinet Embouchure is very simple. Here are the instructions:
1. Put the clarinet in your mouth.

2. Blow

Simple, right? Well, not that simple. Anyone can sit down in front of a piano, place a finger on a key and make a sound. This is the same with a guitar or a percussion instrument.
This is not saying those instruments are easy, however, clarinet is different in that, hand it to a complete novice, and they will either not make a sound or make a horrible sound.

So, therefore, more instructions for the clarinet mouth formation are offered below.
As there are numerous descriptions of the clarinet embouchure on the internet, in your method books, in music journals and from your clarinet teacher or band director, read them all and listen to your teachers.

If you do not understand one description entirely, perhaps another perspective will give you a better understanding of it. Getting the embouchure formed correctly at the earliest possible time is very important for success on clarinet.

FIND A MIRROR AND FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CLARINET EMBOUCHURE:

1. Flatten your bottom lip and make sure the red part of your lip is over the ridge of your bottom teeth. (Pretend you are putting chap-stick on the lip). Avoid having the red part of your lip all on the inside of your teeth (or outside).

2. Along with the flattened lower lip, also notice your chin is flat or pointed as well. Do not allow strawberries or raspberries to form at the end of the chin. This berry motion has your chin squeezing in an upwards direction. Toning-up or flattening the chin has the skin of your chin moving in a downward position.

3. Place the clarinet mouthpiece in your mouth (reed down on the lower lip if you are a beginner). Set the reed on your lower lip and let it anchor down the flat, red part of the lip and keep the chin flat. Bring the top teeth down onto the top of the mouthpiece

4. Bite down with the top teeth onto the mouthpiece putting 1/4 inch of the mouthpiece into your mouth. Close your mouth around the mouthpiece like a drawstring. Close off the lips so air can only blow into the mouthpiece. Keep the chin flat.

5. As you close your mouth and seal it, pull the chin down and make the skin between your chin and lower lip stretch. (Be careful NOT to open up the pressure of the bite. This is a common mistake and misunderstanding). Now, with your right hand (under the thumbrest) place some pressure against the upper teeth.

6. BLOW – when breathing, only use the corners of your mouth to take air into your lungs. Keep the same pressure and do not interrupt your flat chin to do this. Many students completely open their mouth to breath and the most efficient way to breath is to use the corners of your mouth.
Now, it is very difficult to write out the instructions for the correct clarinet embouchure without including all the incorrect, poor clarinet embouchure habits.

u know being the guai me, decided to practise my clarinet .

Hello, well done on today's performance everybody!
AVA might have made mistakes, but come on , as clarinetists of SJC, we should, and WILL forgive them. Forget about it, mistakes do happen. Imagine if YOU were the girl that made that silly mistake. You'd feel really upset as well right.
Don't cry or anything anymore, cause it won't help or anything.
I know it has been some really embarrassing situation for US, but for the AVA as well.
Oh well, at least Mrs Crossley took the initiative to prepare another chance for us.
She's a really caring principal and THOUGHT about us, unlike other teachers.
Okay, so really. Just do better next time. It hurts right, doesn't it.
But it's okay :) We must be strong, and tahan all this. Are you going to let people push you around & mock us?
Are you just going to sit there and let all those words of insults seep in and affect your playing?
NO. Don't. Accepting all these would be like killing the band indirectly.
So okay, just forget everything!
And DO DO DO smile. Mrs Crossley could have just told us to forget everything and forgive them, but she ASKED THEM TO GIVE US ANOTHER CHANCE.
Anyway, nobody is looking down on us or anything okay.
Don't understand why you all cry, but I almost did too... only cause I saw BM/DM and everybody else cry.
It was just a mistake.... oh well. Its okay, i've asked my friend, she said she couldn't hear us play from the back, so you can look at it as though they didn't expect us till play to the end anyway!
We are okay, and we will do this.
Mr Fan is lousy and should stop LOOKING DOWN ON THE BAND.

Anyway, I am not so mean.
But really guys, lets work hard as a section.
Other sections, if you read this, ENCOURAGE YOUR OWN SECTION.
If everybody does their own part by practicing, and improving YOURSELF, everybody will improve themselves as well, and we will IMPROVE AS A BAND.
When we improve as a band, we are bonded as one.
And so, we will work hard for that SILVER!
Work hard guys, but then again, do cope with your studies.
Nothing is more important than your studies.

Whatever it is, excel in whatever you guys do okay.

not paying attention the details like dynamics and articulation , we didnt really practice those kind of stuff..

I'm at Chapter 6 now.. THE BATTLE AT BUKIT TIMAH HILL :O The Chinese fought bravely.. alongside with the British against the Japanese. They killed many and wounded most of them. As revenge, the Japanese killed all the Chinese men,women and children at a village in Bukit Timah.
